“Heads up you maggots, the second part of the test has
begun!” Anko called. The gate flung open and out shot Team 13 and Team 16.
Team 13 ran
in formation, Evan—the fastest one on the team ran in the middle to the left
ran Constance just a little behind him and to the right of Evan was Avril the
slowest who was lagging behind Constance .
“Okay let’s
run ahead.” Constance ordered to her team
mates. Avril and Evan nodded. “I’m freakin’ slow!” Avril whined panting with
her eyes shut tight. “Whatever Av, just hurry and run as fast as you can.” Evan
snapped, the suspense was getting to him.
“Evan!” Constance called Evan nodded. “I see a team to the left;
we can make a U-turn and attack.” Constance
suggested. Evan nodded panting. “Avril,” Evan called slightly turning his head
to the right, “jump on my back see if they have the earth scroll got it?” Evan
ordered. Avril nodded quickly and picked up the pace, Evan slowed down a bit
and Avril jumped (literally) on his back.
Avril
closed her eyes and a blank look came across her face, her already pale face
turned paler, her body was icy cold. After a while of waiting Constance
turned her head to Evan’s back. “Av, what do you see?” Constance
asked sternly.
“I see…”
Avril’s voice trailed off. “What do you see?” Constance
demanded almost yelling. “I see… if we grab their scroll—the team to the
left—then someone will come with an earth scroll to try to take the heaven
scroll; we just need to flaunt that we have the heaven scroll.” Avril
predicted.
“Right, Av,
your part is done, hop off my back, and I can see the team.” Avril did as Evan
said, Tai Sensei put him in charge of the whole team, if Avril wanted not to be
scolded them she had to do as Evan said. Avril hopped off his back and stumbled, she was a little tipsy from her vision.
The team
came in view; it was a girl and two other boys. Avril ran ahead, jumped,
extended one of her legs, tucked the other one in and hit one of the boys in
his gut which made him fall to the ground a few feet away. Constance
ran and slid knocking the girl to the muddy forest floor with a hard thump.
Evan used some needles and aimed for another boy’s pressure point and hit the
spot dead on.
Avril
lightly touched the boy that she was taking care of on the forehead he went
flying and smashed into a tree with a moan the boy passed out. Constance dodged the girl’s kick and smashed her fist
into the girl’s heart with a muffled “Oomph” the girl landed on the ground a
few feet away and slid another couple of feet, blood spewed out of the girl's mouth upon impact.
Evan was
still in a defensive pose same with Avril and Constance. “Avril,” Evan panted,
“who has the scroll?” Avril shut her eyes, turned pale, and her body turned icy
cold. Avril opened her eyes again. “The girl, they figured that if she had it
then they could protect her, it’s in her front pouch third--no--first pocket.” Avril
ordered. “Right.” Constance panted and grabbed
the girl by the collar of her shirt and took the heaven scroll, then let go of
the girl and let her body make a sound on the forest floor.
“Now what?”
Constance asked turning to Avril for
direction. “We leave the scroll in the open then do a surprise attack.” Avril
ordered. Evan took the scroll out of Constance ’s
hand and placed it in the girl’s hand. Constance
looked concerned as Evan got up from the ground. “We didn’t kill them did we?” Constance asked a hint of fear in her voice. “No.” Evan
replied. Constance get out a heavy grateful
sigh.
“Get in the
bushes.” Avril ordered. And so, they waited until their prey came. It was quick
knocking out the next group of ninja’s, Evan used needles to hit their pressure
points and they grabbed the scroll and were on their merry way.
The gates
flung open and Team 16 ran fast ahead, like Team 13 they were in formation, all
running at the same pace in a row. “Over there looks good.” Jimmy said pointing
to an opening in the forest. Matt nodded and turned to the right.
When they
reached their destination they stopped and sat down in a triangle, each of them
facing a different direction. After sometime of waiting Charlie spotted
rustling in the bushes, he slapped Jimmy sitting right next to him. Jimmy
quickly cocked his head to the side to look.
Charlie’s
eyes grew wide and screamed something that sounded something like “Over here!”
except for his words were rushed and slurred in his adrenaline rush. Matt and
Charlie shot up, the rustling was a diversion.
Charlie
grabbed knives and threw them; the enemy had planted a bomb tag. Jimmy and Matt
jumped away from the tag and also through knives. “They’re smart.” Charlie
observed panting. Matt nodded.
One enemy
was in the surrounding trees; Jimmy jumped up in the tree after them and too
planted a bomb tag. Jimmy lunged for the enemy; it was a female. Jimmy aimed
for her feet but she jumped in the air and threw two knives. Jimmy pushed off
of the tree branch with his hands and flipped in the air, the female was also
in the air, Jimmy kicked her in her gut and she flew into another tree and fell
to the forest floor.
Panting
Jimmy went down to help his other team mates. Charlie had already taken out
another girl and Matt was franticly searching for another team member. Matt
decided that his search was useless and just threw bomb tags on every tree
there; he activated the tags and heard a chilling scream come from behind him.
The hair on
his skin stood up, that scream could wake the dead. Matt gulped wide eyed. “It’s
okay, she’s not dead or anything maybe just lost a limb or two.” Jimmy joked
seeing that Matt was scared.
Charlie was
searching one of the girls for a heaven scroll. He found no luck with her girl
that he took out. “Go try the one that you took out.” Charlie ordered Jimmy,
Jimmy just nodded and jumped up for the tree.
“Matt…”
Charlie called crossing his arms, Matt was still wide eyed. “Go check your
girl.” Charlie smiled enjoying Matt’s concern. Charlie didn't mind blood or death, the spirit that lived inside him made him the master of people's fears. Matt solemnly nodded and walked
slowly to where he heard the scream.
Thick red
juice was splattered all over the bushes near by, Matt was getting nervous now.
He came across a body of a girl with her eyes wide open clutching her arm and
rolling around franticly. When she saw Mat she screamed again.
Matt tried
to hush her. “Please, I want to help,” he protested. “Just give me the scroll and
I’ll give you something for your arm.” He compromised. The girl looked up at
Matt wide eyed, Matt didn't understand why she was so scared. He wanted to help her, as he wanted to be a medical ninja one day.
“But my
team mates will hate me. ”
She protested in a frantic voice. “Which would you rather have my team mates kill you or have your
team mates hate you?” Matt sternly asked. The girl sighed and reached into the
pouch in the back and pulled out a heaven scroll.
Matt
reached and took the scroll out of her hands. “Show me your arm. Matt ordered
smiling. Matt put some medicine on it that Constance
gave him and bandaged up her arm. The girl smiled at Matt and said “Thank you,
I hope to see you later in the tower.” Matt nodded and ran back to his team
mates.
“Got the
scroll guys!” Matt yelled holding the scroll up, Charlie and Jimmy applauded
him. “What took you so long?” Charlie asked. “It took me a while to find the
body.” Matt lied Matt looked at his gawking team mates “Yeah she's dead.” Matt
mumbled.
“Yay!”
Charlie applauded, “You killed your first person today.” Charlie patted Matt on
the back. “Whatever, lets just go.” Matt grumbled jerking his away from
Charlie. Matt started to run before they could find out that the girl wasn’t
dead.
“What’s up
with him?” Jimmy asked looking at Matt run. Charlie shrugged and raced after
Matt with Jimmy following close behind.
From behind
the bushes the girl smiled, Matt had helped her and basically saved her life
from his team mates, she would never forget him.
